Vail School District Open Enrollment-
The Vail Unified School District accepts applications from VUSD parents wishing to have their elementary or middle school child attend a Vail school outside of their home school attendance boundary area (Transfer Application) and from parents from neighboring school districts, living outside of the VUSD district, wishing to have their child considered for enrollment in a VUSD school (Open Enrollment Application).
VUSD will accept online applications between November 1 and midnight December 31 for K-8, and between November 1 and January 31 for High School (Priority Deadline), one per child each year. The district will continue to accept applications after the Priority Deadlines based on the availability of enrollment space.
PLEASE NOTE: Due to recent changes in the laws surrounding Open Enrollment, a new application is not necessary if your student will remain enrolled in the same school. Please reach out to your student’s school to declare your intent to return for the upcoming year. If you wish your student(s) to change schools, or if they have completed all grades at their current school and will be moving to middle or high school, please complete this application and make your school selection requests.
Open enrollment applications received between November 1st and December 31st (K-8) and Nov 1st and Jan 31st for High School are given priority for available enrollment space.
Applications received after December 31st for open enrollment are considered on a first-come, first-served basis for available space.
Open Enrollment Application Procedure:
1. Submit one complete online application per student (Incomplete or inaccurate applications will not be processed until complete).
2. Wait for notification (Accepted, Waitlist, or Denied).
3. Complete school registration if accepted. The district shall notify the parent/legal guardian in writing no later than June 1st whether the applicant has been accepted, placed on a waiting list pending the availability of space, or denied.
